Aaaaaannnd your car has a 4.9L V8 that needs no less than 91 Octane?
Seriously, do you guys know of any Canadian credit cards, loyalty memberships or covens that can magically bestow discounts on gas?
(Pictured: Not my car)
Since you’ve made it so far in the post, guess how much I spend on gas every month?!

How to save on gas in Canada when you drive 1000 miles/mo
Buy a 3 series?

Costco. Not so much for loyalty points or anything, but 91 octane is probably 10-20 cents per liter cheaper than anywhere else on any given day.

moar vents!
Even moar racing stickers!

I am going to buy a winter beater that would lessen the assault on my wallet in the winter .....but I can’t drive a different car to save on gas all the time.
That beats the purpose of buying an M 5 lol

Can’t tell if sarcastic or serious.
Your e right, bro impression is really good .

I’ll have to do a Costco membership cost v/s money saved analysis.

I’m trying, I’m trying!

petrocanada has points that can be transferred to cards that save 10 cents per liter per +/- 100 liters.
and if you pay with a royalban k (RBC) card i think the points go up faster. and they have 94 octane

Hmmm I shall investigate.

Think it’s $60 a year for a membership. If you don’t make back the savings on fuel, you’ll make it back on toilet paper and paper towel savings... As long as you don’t impulse buy the whole warehouse.
Also, if you go the next level up as a member, it’s $120 a year I think, but you get cash back on purchases. (though I’m unsure if gas is applicable) Worth looking into though, for sure.

Not like anyone else here bought another car cause they drove too much to drive their V8 M car. Although I was doing ~2250 miles a month.

you won’t save much, but better than nothing.

I have never once used 'bruh' unironically, and I don't ever plan to.

Damn....2250!

Yeah, that’s why I got the 3, wasn’t putting that kind of miles on the M3.

If there’s a Costco nearby that sells gas it’s your best bet, but honestly you’re SO fucked :)
![]() 07/17/2018 at 13:31 |

I’m averaging over 2000 miles a month :(
Luckily I’m getting 32mpg and gas is cheaper here. I’m going to kill my warranty so fast tho.

Up your tire pressures by about 5 psi and drive without using the brake and you have an egg under your foot. You’ll be able to pull sur prisingly decent mileage out of anything that way.

If you know anyone who has a membership they can add you on for free , no one checks if the card used at the pump has your name on it.

Hope over the boarder to the land of cheap(er) gas. Bring a couple jerry cans.

I drive 3000 miles a month. All of my cars are V8 powered - from 4.8L to 6.2L.
I pay $2.5 / gallon.
You don’ t spend enough on gas.

February 2018 $377.98, March 2018 $438.36, April 2018 $318.70, May 2018 $450.52, June 2018 $440.11, July 2018 $363.11
Do you spend more or less than me?

Petro Can does not have 94 everywhere. Only Chevron has 94 in BC as far as I know.

It’s a lost cause. Just start stealing gas. It’s only wrong if you get caught.

They do here in quebec, even way up here in the middle of nowhere
I think they do in ontario also
But the OP was looking for 91 anyways

I spend $1.47 a litre,

Yep.
Gas+Insurance = Rent for me.

Yes. But my cost of pants will shoot up because of the number of code browns.

Bargain! Regular was 156.9 this am at the Chevron I happened to drive past. 94 was probably 1 80.9 or thereabouts, though I didn't check.

Yeah, I have to use apps to find where the cheapest gas is along my commute.
I guess I’m going to do the costco or petro point s thing.
![]() 07/17/2018 at 16:39 |

yeah $ 2.5/gal for 87 (mercury grand marquis)
and $ 3.0/gal for the 93 (SS)
If I drive the SS, I average 16 mpg and burn thru 8 gallons = $24 / day. for the week.
If I dri ve the Grand Marquis, I average 22 and go thru 5 gallons = $12.5/ day.
So it’s anywhere from $250 - $480 / month.
My wife drives a big Navigator L and averages 15 mpg and uses 28 -30 gallons a week (including weekend outings) = Another $350 / month.
At 1.47/ L you proba b ly spend about $400 or so a month.

$400 ish / month - bingo bango.

Here in Quebec, IGA gives you per-litre discounts at Shell when you buy groceries. And Shell takes Air Miles, so you can double-dip when you fill up with an Air Miles credit card. So shop at IGA, then use Air Miles cash to get cheaper gas.
Costco is also a good option. Hypermiling will reduce your expenses. A second car for commuting might be a good idea.

i have a 2.0L 4 cyl

i do that in 2 weeks. (my work “commute” is 2km each way.)
